FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Making a general statement here is not easy, as the length and complexity of the text along with the language combination all play a decisive role in the overall amount of work required. As a realistic rule of thumb, a translator will translate an average between 2000-2300 words per day and language. We always make an all-out effort to meet the deadlines agreed with you.

Ideally, you send us the texts to be translated in an editable Office format. We support DOC, DOCX, XLS, PPT, PDF and TXT files. As part of an optional DTP service, we can also translate special file formats, such as InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop files, into your preferred language without any problems.

Post editing is a manual process in which a text, roughly translated using machine translation, is processed by a translator in such a way that it meets specific quality criteria and receives the all important human touch.

The basis is, the application of the translation memory system (TM), which, as part of the translation software, recognises previously translated words or text fragments from the same subject area and automatically inserts them into the translation.

Post editing is designed to assist translation by using as much machine translation as possible.

The post editor ensures that terminology is translated correctly and is uniform throughout the document and that technical terms are translated correctly and comply with the standards of the respective specialist area.

The post editor ensures that the original text corresponds exactly to the content of the translation. The translation must be idiomatically correct and show cross-cultural sensitivity.

The syntax and style of the translated document must correspond to the level of a native speaker of the target language.

The result of this process is a publishable translation of the same quality as a document fully translated by a human.
